The four
communities of the Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw (NStQ) including
Tsq'escen', Xats'ull/Cmetem', T'exelc and Xgat'tem/Stswecem'c' have chosen
to negotiate together for a Treaty settlement. As part of the NStQ, the
Canim Lake Indian Band Treaty Office Is: Helping
our people build strong, healthy, successful individuals and communities
through an honorable agreement with the people of the Cariboo-Chilcotin
Region, British Columbia and Canada.
The
Community Coordinators in each community:

1.

Work with community members to
ensure their interests are represented in negotiations (and that they
receive full information on all topics).

2.
|
Complete technical work for
negotiations (with assistance from Treaty Advisor and/or contracted
experts as required).
|
|
3.
|
Provide support to NStQ
Negotiator and assist with/lead topic negotiations at table.
|
|
4.
|
Develop and administer
community treaty budgets, supervise Treaty Assistant and Regional
Coordinators, Researchers, etc.
|
|
5.
|
Work with band staff, Chief
and Council and keep them informed of negotiations and seek their input.
|
|
6.
|
Assist with community
transition to post-treaty, including by-laws, taxation, Constitutions,
etc.
